We're used to seeing Saints as people who lived during the Middle Ages, fought in the Crusades, or were biblical figures from ancient times. Yet this is a story of a young man born in 1991! Carlo loved life and was a computer whiz, played soccer and video games. This is a Saint who will have enjoyed police dramas on televison and made films. And yet, the Eucharist and daily Mass were central to his life, alongside serving in soup kitchens and teaching catechism classes. This holy teenager would pass away at the precious age of 15, and was beatified by Pope Francis in 2020. Truly he will be a Saint for our times!
